Ideally, each child will compete in all three events (3-point Shootout, Skills Course, and All-Star Game Melee). However, if we have over 100 participants, we can only guarantee each child will compete in one event plus the All-Star Melee. See below for a description of each event:
3-point Shootout: 4 players square off on separate goals. Each player will have 30 seconds to make as many baskets from three stations behind the 3-pt arc. Each ball made is worth 1 pt. The last ball at each station is called the "Moneyball" and is worth 2 pts. The player with the most points advances to the next round.
Skills Course: 4 players face off each round. At the horn, each player must dribble and weave between 5 cones. Then, each player must race to the end of the court while keeping their dribble and complete a pass to hit the box on the wall from 10 ft. away. Once they hit the target, a judge will hand them a new ball. The player must take the new ball and race to the other end and make a layup. Once made, the player must get the rebound and race to the other end and make a free-throw. The first player to make the free throw is the winner and advances to the next round.
All-Star Game Melee: 4 Teams compete at the same time. Each team has a home goal it is defending, while trying to score on the other three goals. At the start of the game, each team is given two basketballs. A new ball is introduced every minute. At 5 minutes, the team with the fewest points scored on their home goals wins.
